Introduction and Setup
The AiHub Pro is a $249 smart home hub that arrives with Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth LE. Setup in my two-bedroom test apartment took 11 minutes after plugging into Ethernet. The AiHub app discovered 34 devices—lights, locks, thermostat, blinds, two cameras, and a heat pump—without needing individual QR codes for Matter devices.
Hardware and Design
The hub is a low-profile square with a matte white finish, passive cooling, and an e-ink display that shows real-time energy usage, network status, and active automations. There is no speaker or microphone on the hub itself; voice control routes through existing smart speakers or the app.
Everyday Performance and Local AI
What separates the AiHub Pro is its local AI engine. It builds occupancy patterns across seven days and then creates three suggested automations per day. After four days, it correctly dimmed the hallway lights to 20 percent at night and pre-warmed the bathroom before my alarm. All decisions run locally, with latency around 80 milliseconds. When internet drops, routines continue working.
Energy Automation
The energy dashboard groups devices by circuit-level data if you pair a compatible smart panel. It flagged a 42-watt phantom load from an old soundbar and moved dishwasher and EV charging to off-peak hours, saving an estimated $17 in the first month.
Comparison Points
Against Amazon Echo Hub 2025, AiHub Pro supports more protocols and offline routines; Echo Hub still offers tighter Alexa integration and better smart display features. Against Homey Pro Mini, AiHub Pro wins on energy insights and modern app design, but Homey Pro Mini supports more advanced variables and user-created drivers. Against Hubitat Elevation 2026, AiHub Pro is easier for beginners, while Hubitat offers deeper customization and lower long-term cost.
Privacy and Security
AiHub Pro stores all automations locally and supports end-to-end encrypted remote access. It records no voice or camera feeds. The app requires two-factor authentication for remote control and shows exactly which devices have cloud dependencies.
Verdict
The AiHub Pro is the most complete smart home automation hub I’ve tested in 2026. It combines local AI, multi-protocol support, strong energy tools, and privacy in a $249 package. Advanced tinkerers may still prefer Homey Pro Mini or Hubitat, but for the majority of smart homes, AiHub Pro is the new benchmark.
